January 14, 2011

While the rain came down we packed up camp in the Nou Forest, half the group opted for an adventure in the trucks, the other half taking a walk through the village one last time. The final hour in the forest provided some of the best bird watching the group has had in the forest spotting a Golden-winged Sunbird, the beautiful White-starred Robin and some were lucky enough to see a Yellow Bishop. Due to various truck delays the 11-mile trip to the Yaeda Valley took over 6 hours. Arriving at our new campsite the Hadza greeted us and the group got right to work. Some of the wildlife group used the tracking skills of a Hadza guide, Moshi, to set up remote cameras. The group got the opportunity to witness their guide checking for honey in a tree. The night concluded with a shared song and dance in celebration of our tour guide Daudi’s 60th birthday.

PS Ja-Z wants to wish KT a happy 22nd birthday! It was an awesome day :)

  3. Hi Rachel,

I hope you opted to take the forest hike and see those exotic birs and capture some unique photos for Jaclynn. It sounds like you are all haing some great adventures and having amazing photo opportunities. Hope you had the chance to take a natural waterfall shower. Awesome scenery!

Jaclynn brought home another fancy pigeon to keep Mumford company. She also brought home 2 ring-necks doves who are cooing. The temps have been in the teens here most of the week so enjoy that hot weather. We miss you and safe travels for all!

  5. Hi Virginia,

We miss you and are looking for you in the photos. Loved the ostriches the other day. Yesterday, Nancy Gurman took Candy to Gedney, and was off leash near the front parking lot when Candy took off! Nancy called me, I jumped in the car (figured she be on at the end of Barnes), and as I'm pulling out of the garage, Candy is passing the Taddeos, and turning into our driveway!! She ran over a mile home! Her coat was half off, I opened the car door, but she ran right past me to the mudroom door. It was three minutes of terror, followed by hysterical laughter.
